R -v -RG – Manchester Crown Court. Operation Inner Spectrum. Represented RG in a multi hander involving 10 defendants, large scale Conspiracy of an organised crime group to supply Class A and B drugs namely Cocaine, Heroin and cannabis involving two drugs lines in the Greater Manchester area. The total value of the drugs sold using one of the drugs lines was almost quarter of a million pounds. The complex investigation involved Phone evidence, namely telecommunications data and surveillance and static observations. RG put forward a Basis of Plea which was not accepted by the Prosecution. Adam Law Solicitors appointed a drugs expert and the Judge made a determination regarding quantities of drugs based of the Prosecution and Defence expert reports. The Prosecution categorised RG offending at category 2 leading role. The Defence put forward submissions that RG offending was a category 3 significant role. RG received a substantially reduced sentence of 3.5 years. The case attracted media coverage.
